Who Are We

  • Scent & StrategyTM is a fragrance consulting firm, founded by industry insider Lisa Wilson. We work with clients of all sizes in home fragrance/air care, fine fragrance, bath and body, hair care and household products. Our model is unique, as is each client. We view the fragrance development process as collaborative, highly creative, yet critically strategic.

  • Working within the fragrance industry can be complicated, nuanced and daunting. Having an experienced, respected, and creative partner on your side can make all the difference for your project. It can even make it fun. We're here to help.

  • About Lisa
    Lisa WilsonLisa Wilson has more than 25 years of experience in development, marketing and sales of scented products. Her background includes advertising account management of consumer packaged goods and mass-market fragrances at BBDO New York/Omnicom and brand management at Unilever. Working with master perfumers, she learned to orchestrate fine fragrance, personal care and air care fragrances then became Western Regional Manager at Givaudan. Lisa was Creative Strategist and Fragrance Designer at Through Smoke Creative, an award-winning boutique product design firm, and explored the naturals industry at Trilogy Fragrances/Symrise PureScents. Most recently, she was Vice President of Product Development at Aquiesse. With her uniquely strategic approach to fragrance development, Lisa collaborated with Bijan, Gap, The Disney Store, Apothia at Fred Segal, Missoni Home,Yankee Candle Company, Method, Gump’s, Restoration Hardware, Pottery Barn and others to create many commercially successful, award-winning scents. It is only fitting that she has chosen to create a platform to advise clients directly via her fragrance consulting company, Scent&Strategy, founded in 2014.

    We're here to assist with fragrance development from concept, strategy, fragrance house briefing/interaction/evaluation through base optimization and stability/compatibility. For one product—or a line of products.
  • Competitive Analysis

    We can help sort through the market and look at what’s relevant to your brand. Where do you want to be? There’s a lot to smell out there!
  • Brief Crafting

    Writing an actionable brief—one that inspires and incites creativity is paramount to the fragrance development process. It should be detailed yet leave room for surprises. We’ve written hundreds of them, and perfumers say they are clear and fun to work on, and clients love them because they reflect their brand DNA.
  • Process Evaluation and
    Recommendation

    Sometimes it helps to have someone look at your process to help improve it. Maybe there’s room for improvement in how you catalog submissions in your fragrance library or how you interact with fragrance houses. Because we've worked on all sides of the industry, we can help recommend ways to improve your process.
  • Fragrance House Partnerships

    Depending on the scope or aesthetic of your project, we can recommend fragrance houses to best suit your needs. We have close relationships with major houses and key indie and natural-focused houses as well.
